Often I feel that I'm overlooked at my company because of my age. I am the youngest so therefor according to others in my workplace I don't have "enough knowledge or experience". Anyone else feel like they no one is listening to them because of age?

This happens to me all of the time usually from clients. I try to reassure them that I am qualified by talking them through a situation from beginning to end. So similar but different, have you tried some level of reassurance? It's definitely a pain but not sure what else to do at the moment.

I think this is prevalent in a number of industries and it can be really hard to navigate and even discouraging. Make note of it when it happens and don't be afraid to approach the situation from a non-combative space. For instance, if you are looked over in meetings or tasks, ask for a meeting with your Supervisor. Ask them what you can do to take on more responsibilities or how would they approach not being heard in the workplace.

When I was much younger - I taught classes on technologies often to engineers and others that were much older. I also had a "baby face" so I looked very young. I wore glasses and ditched the contacts to make myself look older. Also dressed a more conservative and tried to drop any vernaculars. Try to be extra patient. Especially when getting information from someone older. Its the fastest way to seem wise - listening. Ask them to tell you "stories" about their past. Will benefit both of you.

The k you for sharing this. Never realized the amount of scrutiny younger employees go through. I want to check in with those at my organization now to see if there is further support needed with issues like these.
